Response of electroless copper coated CFRP laminates to emulated lightning strikes

چکیده
Lightning strike emulator was employed for evaluating the response of copper electroless coatings on epoxy-CFRP laminates under these high demanding electrical events. Samples were coated 15 and 30 min producing 0.6 1.2 µm thick layers, respectively, their performances compared with commercially protected naked laminates. Data show that a thin layer can improve performance CFRP 40 kA discharges by absorbing part energy, as sacrificial protection. The surface delaminated composite lower whereas coating area affected larger samples treated at longer times. An interesting relationship found between charge transfer damaged area, all samples. In addition, sustained A injection tests performed both data thermal imaging showed better tolerance to continuous currents heat dissipation versus

Electromagnetic Field Due to Lightning Strikes to Mountainous Ground
The produced electric and magnetic fields due to lightning strikes to mountainous ground are determined in this paper. For the sake of simplicity a cone-shaped ground with finite conductivity is assumed to represent a natural nonflat ground. By this assumption, we deal with an axillary symmetrical structure so we use the cylindrical 2D-FDTD to save the simulation memory and time, dramatically. ...
متن کاملWhen lightning strikes twice.
The educational, occupational, and creative accomplishments of the profoundly gifted participants (IQs > 160) in the Study of Mathematically Precocious Youth (SMPY) are astounding, but are they representative of equally able 12-year-olds? Duke University’s Talent Identification Program (TIP) identified 259 young adolescents who were equally gifted. By age 40, their life accomplishments also wer...
متن کاملElectrical Injuries and Lightning Strikes
Electrical burn injuries account for about 5% of burns unit admissions. Electricians and linesmen are at highest risk but those working with electrical tools also form a significant proportion of this patient group. [2] Electrical injuries in children are unusual and are mainly due to misguided exploration outside the home. [3] For every death, there are two serious injuries and 36 reported ele...
